ANAHEIM, Calif. Cheap Authentic Jordans . -- About two hours after Yoenis Cespedes made a defensive play for the ages, Collin Cowgill decided not to watch while the Oakland left fielder chased after his long drive in the 14th inning. Cespedes couldnt do a thing about this one as Cowgill delivered another resilient win for the Los Angeles Angels. Cowgill hit a two-out homer, and the Angels outlasted the Oakland Athletics 2-1 on Tuesday night for their fifth consecutive victory. The Angels bounced back after Cespedes kept it tied in the eighth with a throw that will be a fixture on highlight reels for years, cutting down Howie Kendrick at the plate with a 300-foot heave on the fly from deep down the left-field line. After five ensuing scoreless innings, Cowgill abruptly connected against Jeff Francis (0-1), driving a two-strike pitch just over Cespedes head into the bullpens beyond left field. "I was just hoping it had enough on it to get it over his head," said Cowgill, who had three hits. "That guy has made some incredible plays on us the last couple of times." Josh Hamilton drove in Mike Trout in the sixth for the Angels, who trimmed Oaklands lead in the AL West to 2 1/2 games. The Angels could have ended it earlier, but Albert Pujols and Kendrick both were thrown out at the plate -- although it was tough to blame Kendrick after Cespedes made his mind-boggling throw in the eighth. "Hes capable of doing just about anything on the baseball field, and thats just another example," said Jed Lowrie, who drove in Oaklands only run. The Cuban left fielder bobbled Trouts double and chased it down before his soaring throw went straight to catcher Derek Norris to nip Kendrick, who had already rounded third when Cespedes released it. "When that ball rolled to the corner, I thought Howie was going to score standing up," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He threw a guided missile that was right on the money." Cory Rasmus (2-0) pitched two hitless innings for Los Angeles maligned bullpen, which yielded one run in eight excellent innings even without closer Ernesto Frieri, who had pitched in four straight games. Nick Punto doubled and scored on Lowries sacrifice fly in the eighth for the AL-leading As, who have lost four of six. "Hey, what can you do?" manager Bob Melvin said. "They played as hard as they could, both teams did. After a while, everybody is trying to win it with one swing. Unfortunately, we werent at our best today offensively." Pitching and defence dominated the latest meeting of Californias division rivals. Neither starting pitcher allowed a runner into scoring position until the sixth. Hector Santiago struck out eight during six innings of three-hit ball in his first start in five weeks for the Angels. Drew Pomeranz pitched seven innings of four-hit ball for the As, allowing only an unearned run. The Angels got a terrific fill-in start from Santiago, recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake after Tyler Skaggs went on the disabled list. Santiago lost his spot in Los Angeles rotation May 7 after going 0-6, but the Angels off-season acquisition from the White Sox limited powerful Oakland to three singles and one walk. "I had clean mechanics and felt like everything was smooth," Santiago said. "Thats what I went down there to work on, and the results came out." Santiago faced no real trouble until the sixth, when he struck out Josh Donaldson to strand two runners. Pomeranz yielded just two singles before Trout drew a leadoff walk in the sixth. Pujols reached on a throwing error when Donaldson, who made three throwing errors from third base Monday, tried to start a double play. Hamiltons single scored Trout, but Pujols ran straight through third-base coach Gary DiSarcinas stop sign and was easily thrown out at the plate. Oakland tied it against reliever Mike Morin after Punto hit a leadoff double. After Cespedes kept it tied, the As put two more runners on in the ninth, but Joe Smith got John Jaso to ground out. NOTES: Angels rookie Cam Bedrosian pitched two extra innings of one-hit relief. He is the 22-year-old son of 1987 NL Cy Young Award winner Steve Bedrosian. ... Angels SS Erick Aybar swung and hit Norris in the back of the head with his follow-through in the fourth. Baltimores Manny Machado twice did the same thing to Norris last weekend, and the As were furious after Machado expressed no remorse when Norris had to leave the game. Aybar immediately checked on Norris, who was fine this time. ... Donaldsons three throwing errors Monday all went to first base. Authentic Air Jordan Retro China . Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork. Authentic Dikembe Mutombo Jersey (http://www.cheapnuggetsjerseysauthentic.com/?tag=authentic-dikembe-mutombo-jersey) .com) - A pair of middle-of-the-pack power five conference teams meet up at Ford Field for the inaugural Quick Lane Bowl when the Big Tens Rutgers Scarlet Knights take on the ACCs North Carolina Tar Heels. Rutgers, in its first season in the Big Ten, went 7-5 overall and 3-5 in conference play. While the transition from the American Athletic Conference was a little rough for the Scarlet Knights, it didnt stop them from earning their ninth bowl appearance in 10 years, thanks in part to four non-conference wins. I like the idea of playing another power five opponent, said Rutgers head coach Kyle Flood. I like the idea of playing another power five school. I love the opportunity to play at a great stadium; and to play at Ford Field in a controlled environment, its a great stadium. I think all those things enhance the Bowl experience. Flood is the first coach in school history to lead Rutgers to a bowl game in each of his first three seasons, while the 2014 senior class is appearing in a bowl for the fourth consecutive season. The only other senior classes in school history to play in four straight bowls were members of the 2008 and 2009 senior classes. The Scarlet Knight won two of their last three games to end a three-game losing streak and earn a spot in a bowl. In their season finale, Gary Nova completed 28-of-42 passes for 347 yards and four touchdowns, as Rutgers came from behind to defeat Maryland, 41-38. Nova, Rutgers team MVP, completed 58 percent of his passes for 2,667 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions this season. He leads an offense that averages 25.6 points per game. Novas favorite target is Leonte Carroo, who has a team-best 53 catches for 1,043 yards with 10 touchdowns. Caroo, a First Team selection, led a group of four Rutgers players to earn all-conference honors. Defensive linemen Darius Hamilton and Kemoko Turay, and offensive lineman Kaleb Johnson were also named all-conference. Hamilton and Turay combined to have 12.5 sacks for a Rutgers defense that yielded 30.9 points per game this season and allowed 439.5 yards of offense. North Carolina, the third place finisher in the ACCs Coastal Division, went 6-6 overall this season and 4-4 in conference play. The offensive output of the Tar Heels should be tough for the Scarlet Knights to contain. North Carolina finished third in the ACC, averaging 34.3 point per game, and are led by second-team All-ACC quarterback Marquise Williams. The Charlotte, N.C., native leads the team in both passing (2,870) and rushing yards (737). This year, he set UNC single-season record for total offense (3,607), most touchdowns responsible for (32) and most touchdowns rushing by a quarterback (12). Williams, however, is coming off a sub-par performance in the Tar Heels regular-season finale against NC State. Williams and fellow QB Mitch Trubisky combined to hit on 17-of-35 passes for 177 yards with one touchdown, two interceptions and four sacks in a 35-7 setback. On the defensive side, the Tar Heels fired defensive coordinator Vic Koenning after the regular season and Dan Disch will now get a shot to lead a unit that allowed 38.9 points per game and yielded 495.7 yards per game. Hes very energetic. Hes a little out there, but its something we need, linebacker Jeff Schoettmer said of Disch. Hes more aggressive. Aggressiveness might play into Carolinas favor against the pro-style offense that Rutgers runs with Nova, a prototypical pocket-passer who doesnt have much mobility. The Scarlet Knights are 5-4 all-time in bowl games after last seasons 29-16 loss in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. For Carolina, this will be Fedoras sixth bowl appearance as a head coach. Last year, he guided the Tar Heels to a 39-17 victory over Cincinnati in the Belk Bowl. The Quick Lane Bowl is Carolinas 31st all-time bowl game, but first in the state of Michigan. Carolina has won two of its last three bowl games. Rutgers and North Carolina have met six times in series history - the last time at North Carolina in 2011 (24-22 UNC victory). It marks the first time the two schools have met in a bowl and it will be Rutgers third bowl versus an ACC opponent (2012 Russell Athletic Bowl vs. Virginia Tech; 2008 PapaJohns.com Bowl vs. NC State). The Wolves have had too much bad luck lately to think things will stay this smooth. Kevin Love had 34 points, 15 rebounds and five assists, Kevin Martin scored 30 points and Minnesota improved to 3-0 for the first time in 12 years with a 109-100 victory over the New York Knicks on Sunday night. The Timberwolves, averaging a whopping 37.3 points in the first quarter, are healthy again after an injury-wrecked 2012-13 and showing the early promise of a team that can contend for its first playoff berth since 2004. But after being limited to 18 games last season, Love knows nothing is guaranteed. "We dont want to get too far ahead of ourselves because of the injuries," he said. "So dont want to live in the past, dont want to live too far in the future, we just want to try to plan for Cleveland tomorrow." Minnesota took a huge lead after a 40-point first quarter, then pulled away after the Knicks trimmed it to two in the closing minutes to move halfway to matching the 2001-02 team that set the franchise record by winning its first six. Carmelo Anthony had 22 points and 17 rebounds for the Knicks, who have dropped two straight after a season-opening victory and drew some loud boos in the first half while appearing to be standing still on defence. Anthony shot just 8 of 21. Metta World Peace added 17 points, but the Knicks were too far behind by the time they found any offence. Raymond Felton had 12 assists but shot 3 of 12, as did rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. The Wolves were 29 of 38 from the free throw line after coming into the game leading the NBA with 27 makes per game, while New York was just 11 of 13. Many times the Knicks lost whatever momentum they had when they sent a Minnesota player to the line. Minnesota rang up 38 points in the first quarter of its opener, put up 34 in a rout of Oklahoma City on Friday, and made 14 of 21 shots in the opening 12 minutes of this one. "That was the difference in the game," Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. Cheap Nuggets Jerseys (http://www.cheapnuggetsjerseysauthentic.com/). "I thought the second, third and fourth quarter we played pretty good basketball, but you just cant come out on your home court and dig a hole." Ricky Rubio finished with eight points, 10 assists and six rebounds, and Nikola Pekovic had 11 points and 12 boards. "This is such a fun team to play on," said Martin, who was 5 for 5 on 3-pointers. "Nobody is trying to lead the league in scoring here. Everybody has the big picture of getting to the playoffs." Leading by four, the Wolves closed the period with a 23-6 run, and it really couldnt have been much easier. When they werent getting ahead of the Knicks defence for fast-break layups, they were getting to the line, such as when Love had a four-point possession after Kenyon Martin fouled him on a 3-pointer, then gave an extra shove for a technical foul. Minnesota scored the final 11 points of the period to make it 40-19, got the first basket of the second, and took a 64-49 lead into halftime. Playing again without the suspended J.R. Smith and with Amare Stoudemire resting, the Knicks finally sustained a run in the fourth quarter. Consecutive 3-pointers by Anthony and Iman Shumpert capped a 17-5 surge that cut it to 100-98 with 4:49 remaining, but Martin made a free throw on a technical foul, then hit a 3-pointer, and Love followed with a jumper to push the lead to 106-98 with 3:19 to play. "We started playing with some energy. We started feeling desperate," Anthony said. "We dug ourselves a hole. We started fighting out that hole. We gave ourselves a chance to get back in the basketball game." NOTES: There was a moment of silence before the game for former Knick and Hall of Famer Walt Bellamy, who died Saturday at 74.
